Sources: PSG Eyes Move for…

Paris Saint-Germain has identified Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez as a key target for the upcoming season, ESPN sources report.

Álvarez has also garnered attention from Barcelona and Arsenal.

Currently, PSG is searching for a reliable No. 9 and is willing to entertain offers for Gonçalo Ramos, planning to use the proceeds for a bid to secure Álvarez, who is an Argentine international.

Nevertheless, Álvarez is under contract with Atlético until 2030, and the club is resistant to letting him go.

ESPN has learned that PSG intends to make a preliminary offer to gauge Atlético’s stance, who spent approximately €95 million ($112m) to secure him from Manchester City two summers ago.

PSG had previously attempted to sign Álvarez upon his departure from City, but he chose to join Atlético Madrid to play in LaLiga.

Despite this, PSG, which is vying for a consecutive Champions League title this season, is more hopeful about securing his services this time around.

While Barcelona is also pursuing Álvarez, PSG believes it is in a stronger financial position compared to the Spanish club.

Additionally, ESPN has reported that Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing in Álvarez as the club looks to enhance its attacking options.

The involvement of Apollo Investment in Atlético Madrid could play a crucial role in bolstering Diego Simeone’s squad this summer.

Álvarez joined Atlético in August 2024 on a six-year contract, which includes an impressive release clause of €500 million.

Atlético has had a disappointing domestic season, currently trailing Barcelona by 28 points.

In the Champions League, they managed to reach the semifinals but were eliminated by Arsenal and, in the Copa del Rey, they defeated Barcelona in the semifinals only to lose to Real Sociedad in the final.
