Spurs Report Abhorrent…

Tottenham has strongly condemned the “appalling, dehumanizing racism” directed at defender Kevin Danso following their recent 2-2 draw against Brighton.

Danso was involved in the play leading to Georginio Rutter‘s equalizing goal in stoppage time, a result that keeps Spurs in the relegation zone.

The club has reported the racist abuses directed toward the Austrian center-back on social media to law enforcement.

In a statement, Spurs highlighted: “Since yesterday’s match against Brighton, which fell during the Premier League’s No Room For Racism weekend, Kevin Danso has been subject to significant and abhorrent racist abuse on social media.”

“We have witnessed and heard reprehensible, dehumanizing racism. Such behavior is undeniably a criminal offense and will not be tolerated.

“The club is taking immediate action, reporting all identified content to the Metropolitan Police and relevant authorities depending on the location of the offenders, as well as notifying pertinent social media platforms.

Spurs find silver lining vs. Brighton, but not a desperately needed win

“We will advocate for the strictest possible measures against every individual we can identify.

“Kevin has our unwavering support as both a player and an individual. No one at this club will be left to face this alone.

“Nothing regarding form or league position can justify or explain racist abuse. There is no rationale linking on-field performance to the right to discriminate against a player. Performance critiques are part of the game; racism is not.”
