Stevens, who will start on 10 July, said his two decades in a range of roles across different clubs have equipped him to help unlock the club’s potential.
He added that he believes in Swansea City’s project, sees significant potential, and is eager to bring everyone together to pursue future success.
Swans chief executive Tom Gorringe said the club intended to make an appointment of this kind only if the right fit for Swansea City became available, and they are confident Ben has the qualities they were seeking.
He noted Ben’s role in Crystal Palace’s most successful period and said the announcement was made after their season and European success, out of respect for Ben and Palace.
