Team Norway is embracing its Viking heritage as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup.
Recently, the squad unveiled a stunning set of images taken by photographer David Yarrow, showcasing players dressed in traditional Viking armor. The team posed on a beach, positioned in front of three authentic Viking longships, reminiscent of those used by raiders along the English coast in the early Middle Ages.
Star player Erling Haaland featured separately, brandishing a sword and shield with his long hair flowing freely. The talented Manchester City forward had an impressive 2025-26 season, netting 27 goals and providing eight assists in 34 appearances.
Norway’s World Cup journey kicks off against Iraq on June 16 at 6 p.m. ET. They will also compete against France and Senegal in Group I. Currently, the Norwegians hold 35-1 odds to clinch the World Cup title.
