A street in New York City has been renamed in honor of Thierry Henry in anticipation of the 2026 World Cup.
The French legend, a 1998 World Cup champion, now has 50th Street and Sixth Avenue designated as “Thierry Henry Way.”
Henry joined the New York Red Bulls in 2010, where he netted 52 goals in 135 appearances for the Major League Soccer team.
During a video presented to the crowd at the unveiling, Henry expressed, “It is an incredible honor for 50th Street and Sixth Avenue to be named Thierry Henry Way.”
Located in the heart of Manhattan near the Rockefeller Center, the street was officially renamed on June 10.
Henry is among other World Cup legends to receive such recognition; Brazilian icon Pelé, the only player to win three World Cups, also has a street named after him.
“Pelé Way” can be found in Queens as New York embraces the World Cup spirit.
