Tottenham is poised to break their transfer record for the second time in a matter of days, having reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign Sandro Tonali for a total that could go up to £100 million ($133 million), according to sources.
Initially, Spurs had an offer of £75 million turned down on June 20, but they maintained discussions and returned with a revised proposal that matched Newcastle’s asking price.
The agreement reportedly features a base fee of £92.5 million with an additional £7.5 million contingent on European qualification.
There are not expected to be any issues with the personal terms, as Spurs have received indications that the Italy midfielder is keen on a move to north London.
This announcement comes just a day after Tottenham agreed to a record £85 million deal with West Ham for Mateus Fernandes.
