Tottenham Hotspur has officially signed Conor Gallagher from
Atlético Madrid, as announced by the Premier League club on Wednesday.
Gallagher transferred to Atlético from Chelsea in August 2024, in a deal valued at approximately €40 million ($44 million).

After spending 17 months in Spain, the England midfielder returns to London to join Spurs under manager Thomas Frank.
Atlético Madrid has bolstered its midfield with the acquisitions of Johnny Cardoso, Álex Baena, Thiago Almada, and Nico González, which increased competition for a starting position and often left Gallagher on the bench this season.
“I always wanted to be a part of Spurs, and I’m thankful the club felt the same way,” Gallagher remarked in Tottenham’s announcement. “The process was smooth and quick, and I’m eager to get on the field.”
“I am aware of how amazing the fans are, and I’m thrilled to be here—I want to create special moments and memories with them.”
Gallagher arrives at a Tottenham team struggling with consistency and dealing with multiple injuries.
While James Maddison is expected to miss the entire season after tearing his ACL in preseason, Rodrigo Bentancur is set to be out for at least three months following hamstring surgery.
Mohammed Kudus is also projected to be sidelined until after the international break in March due to a thigh injury.
Dejan Kulusevski has not played since April due to knee issues, and his return is not expected soon.
“Conor is still young with lots of potential for growth but comes with significant experience in the Premier League, La Liga, and with the England national team,” said Spurs manager Frank.
“He has captained teams and will bring leadership, maturity, character, and personality to our locker room. His energy, pressing ability, and goal-scoring instincts will be a crucial asset in key areas of the pitch.”
“I’m enthusiastic about working with him day in and day out, and I know the fans will appreciate what he brings to the team.”
