A trio of 16-year-old sisters—Emilie, Hollie and Millie Jeffreys—made history as the first triplets to represent Guernsey, helping the island side secure third place at the Cherry Godfrey Cup.
Guernsey lost 3-1 to the Isle of Man in Friday’s semi-final, then bounced back on Saturday to defeat the Isle of Wight 5-1 in the third-place play-off.
In the decider, Millie provided the assists for Guernsey’s first three goals as Heidi Dawber completed a hat-trick by the 32nd minute to make it 3-0. Thea Broadhead reduced the deficit for the Isle of Wight with a long-range effort before half-time. After the break, Emilie set up Millie to extend the lead to 4-1 with 18 minutes remaining, and Emilie added a stoppage-time fifth. The sisters were involved in every Guernsey goal.
Emilie told BBC Radio Guernsey that she had looked forward to this chance for as long as she could remember, calling it a special moment for the family, especially with all three sisters on the pitch together.
