Tuchel Criticizes ‘Quiet’…

Thomas Tuchel has criticized England fans for the “silent” atmosphere at Wembley during Thursday’s 3-0 friendly victory over Wales.

During the match, Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka scored three goals in the first 20 minutes, showcasing England’s dominance.

When can England qualify for the 2026 World Cup?

However, Tuchel expressed disappointment with the crowd of 78,126, feeling there was insufficient support following England’s strong performance.

“We had just one-and-a-half days of training to prepare against a well-drilled team, and we played excellently,” he said in an interview with ITV.

“We could easily have been 5-0 up by half-time, but we failed to find the fourth and fifth goals. The stadium was quiet, and we didn’t receive any energy from the stands. We gave our all to win.”

When asked if he expected more from the fans, Tuchel replied, “Absolutely. What more can you ask for in 20 minutes? We kept the pressure on without giving them a chance. Hearing only the Wales fans for half an hour is disappointing because the team deserved more support today.”

In a follow-up at the post-match press conference, Tuchel elaborated: “I am confident that we will have fantastic support in the tournament. We’ll have strong backing in Latvia [on Tuesday], just like we did in Serbia.”

“But today, even when we were 3-0 up after 23 minutes and had multiple chances, I couldn’t understand why the energy in the stadium felt muted. It was frustrating. This could have assisted us in regaining energy and rhythm in the second half, but it didn’t happen today. No worries. We’ll make an effort to energize the crowd in future matches. But for today, I felt a bit let down.”
