Two players who struggled at Manchester United showcased their talents across Europe this past weekend.
Winger Antony and goalkeeper André Onana stood out with impressive performances.
Antony, playing for Spanish side Real Betis, scored twice in their 3-0 victory over Mallorca in La Liga.
He opened the scoring with a low left-footed shot from outside the box after a neat one-two involving a cut inside from the right wing.
For his second goal, Antony cut in onto his stronger left foot and curled the ball into the far corner.
Despite an £81 million ($107 million) transfer fee, Antony had struggled to find his form at United, scoring just nine goals. However, he has already equaled that tally with Betis, where he initially joined on loan in January and helped them reach the Conference League final.
His loan has since become a permanent deal. Meanwhile, Onana, another high-profile signing who had difficulties in England, also shone over the weekend, putting in a stellar performance for Trabzonspor in their Istanbul derby against Galatasaray.
Onana was crucial in securing a goalless draw, making several key saves despite Galatasaray’s six shots on target.
Though Onana is currently on loan from United, ESPN sources indicate that no clause exists for Trabzonspor to make the move permanent, meaning he could still return to Old Trafford.

However, not all former United players found success in their new teams. Rasmus Hojlund was substituted during Napoli‘s goalless draw against Como. Since transferring to Napoli on loan, he has netted twice in Serie A.
Jadon Sancho made a cameo appearance for Aston Villa, who faced a defeat against Liverpool.
