Legendary sprinter Usain Bolt is poised to play for a Sunday league team in Manchester.
The eight-time Olympic gold medalist, who still holds the world records for the 100 meters and 200 meters, is listed on the roster for Wythenshawe FC Veterans over-35s on the Football Association Full-Time website.
This team competes in the Cheshire Veterans League and boasts a lineup filled with former elite professionals.
Under the management of former Manchester City and Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Ireland, the team includes notable players such as Danny Drinkwater, Antonio Valencia, Joleon Lescott, Emile Heskey, Marc Albrighton, and Papiss Cisse.
At 40 years old, Bolt is an avid football fan. After retiring from athletics following the 2017 World Championships, he briefly pursued a professional football career with the Central Coast Mariners in Australia.
A devoted Manchester United supporter, Bolt has participated in Soccer Aid charity matches regularly over the past decade.
While Wythenshawe has yet to officially announce Bolt’s signing, they have been approached for a comment.
