United States international Cameron Carter-Vickers will be out of action for several months due to an Achilles injury sustained during Celtic’s recent match, as announced by manager Brendan Rodgers on Friday.
Rodgers indicated that Carter-Vickers could be sidelined for three to five months, which may jeopardize the defender’s chances of participating in the U.S. squad for next summer’s World Cup.

Carter-Vickers, 27, felt discomfort during Celtic’s 2-1 win over Sturm Graz in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Rodgers had already made two substitutions in the first half due to injuries and had to make another change in the 78th minute, exhausting all available substitutions.
“We intended to take Cameron off, but we could only make one substitution in the second half. Ideally, we would have removed him,” Rodgers commented following the match.
In his interview with Sky Sports, Rodgers confirmed the nature of the injury. “It looks like he’s injured his Achilles, which could result in a recovery time of three to five months,” he stated. “We are awaiting verification, but it’s not positive news.”
Carter-Vickers was part of the USMNT squad during the 2022 World Cup and remained an unused substitute in the recent friendlies against Ecuador and Australia. He has earned 19 caps with the national team.
Auston Trusty, another U.S. international, may be called to step in for Carter-Vickers in the Celtic lineup.
