Vieira Dismissed as Genoa…

Patrick Vieira has been dismissed from his role as manager of Genoa, as announced by the Serie A club.

The former midfielder for Arsenal and the French national team took the reins in November 2024 and led the team to a 13th-place finish in the league.

However, Genoa currently sits at the bottom of the standings, still searching for their first league victory of the season, having lost six matches and drawn three out of nine.

The only wins for Genoa this season have come in a couple of Coppa Italia matches.

Genoa announced Vieira’s exit on Saturday, just two days prior to their Serie A match against Sassuolo.

The club’s official statement read: “Genoa announces that Patrick Vieira is no longer the coach of the first team. We thank the coach and his staff for their dedication and professionalism during their tenure and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

Roberto Murgita has been appointed as the interim manager, with Domenico Criscito assisting him.

Previously, Vieira managed Nice, New York City FC, and spent two years at the helm of Crystal Palace before his departure in March 2023. He later took on a coaching role at Strasbourg in July 2023.
