Vitinha: Unwise to…

Paris Saint-Germain star Vitinha recently stated that it would be “foolish” for him to even consider leaving the Ligue 1 champions amid speculation linking him to Real Madrid.

The highly-rated midfielder is reportedly one of Madrid’s top targets for the upcoming summer transfer window, and he has a contract with PSG running until June 2029.

In an interview with Canal 11 regarding a potential move to Real Madrid, the 26-year-old said, “It would be foolish to leave! I don’t think that would be the best decision for me right now. I am very happy here at PSG, and my family feels the same way.”

He added, “We have a fantastic group and an amazing coach. I feel appreciated here and I believe I’ve earned a place in the hearts of the fans.”

Since joining PSG from FC Porto in 2022, Vitinha has won 11 trophies, including a Ligue 1 title, the Champions League, and the Coupe de France last season.

The Portugal international finished third in the Ballon d’Or voting for 2025, behind Barcelona talent Lamine Yamal and his PSG teammate Ousmane Dembélé.

Even a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia would not sway Vitinha to part ways with Les Parisiens.

“Let’s not be naive,” he responded when asked about his future in the Saudi Pro League. “I’m focused on having a stable career. I already earn well here in Europe at a top club. Simply doubling or tripling that salary won’t bring me more happiness.”

This season, Vitinha has recorded six goals and eight assists in 34 appearances for PSG, who, under coach Luis Enrique, currently lead Ligue 1 and are set to play against Chelsea in the opening leg of the Champions League last 16 on March 11.
