FA Cup Quarterfinals
Kickoff: Saturday, 7:45 a.m. ET / 12:45 p.m. GMT (watch on ESPN+)
This season, Manchester City holds the upper hand against Liverpool, having secured two victories: an easy win at the Etihad Stadium and a dramatic triumph at Anfield. Now, they face Liverpool again at the Etihad in an eagerly awaited FA Cup quarterfinal.
City recently triumphed over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, showcasing a brilliant tactical display from manager Pep Guardiola. This victory has boosted their confidence, especially in the title race, although the specific tactics used against Arsenal may not be as effective against Liverpool.
Facing Liverpool, Guardiola will need to adjust his strategy. He is still exploring the optimal way to utilize Rayan Cherki, while Erling Haaland struggles to find his form. However, City has been formidable in cup competitions under Guardiola, and Liverpool will need something extraordinary to overcome them.
Arne Slot’s team has had consistency issues, and Mohamed Salah’s form has been lacking. As he prepares for what could be his final game against City, he aims to leave a mark, having accumulated 20 goals and assists against them throughout his nine seasons with Liverpool. With other standout performers like Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike sharpening their skills during the international break, it adds life to Liverpool’s challenge despite increasing unrest among their supporters.
MY PREDICTION: Manchester City 2-1 Liverpool. Both teams have shown inconsistency this season, but with City playing at home, I expect them to edge out Liverpool in what promises to be a close match.

Can Atlético spoil Barcelona’s title dreams?
Atlético Madrid vs. Barcelona
LaLiga, Matchday 30
Kickoff: Saturday, 3 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. GMT
While Atlético Madrid cannot win the title this season, they can play a decisive role in the title race. After losing to Real Madrid in a recent derby, they now host Barcelona at the Metropolitano.
Barcelona currently holds a four-point advantage over Real Madrid, but this match presents a significant challenge as they will be without Raphinha, who faces a five-week injury layoff. His absence is detrimental as he is crucial for Barcelona’s overall playstyle. Additionally, players like Alejandro Baldé, Jules Koundé, and Frenkie de Jong are sidelined, prompting manager Hansi Flick to reassess his lineup.
This matchup precedes their upcoming clashes in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Atlético previously exploited Barcelona’s defensive weaknesses during their Copa del Rey Semifinals. Both teams will be looking to assert their dominance despite missing key players.
MY PREDICTION: Atlético Madrid 2-2 Barcelona. Expect a thrilling encounter as Atlético seeks to replicate their Copa del Rey success, but Barcelona is likely to come into the match more prepared for a tough battle.

Marcotti: Barcelona would be foolish to renew Rashford’s loan under current conditions
Gab & Juls discuss whether Barcelona should retain Marcus Rashford for next season.
French Ligue 1, Matchday 28
Kickoff: Sunday, 2:45 p.m. ET / 7:45 p.m. GMT
This match carries significant weight in the battle for European positions, but it’s primarily one of the biggest derbies in France, marked by a fierce rivalry that dates back to the Bernard Tapie and Arsène Wenger eras of the 1980s and 90s. With only three points separating the two teams on the league table, the stakes are high.
Marseille occupies third place, but their recent form has been inconsistent with just two wins, a draw, and a loss in their last four matches in all competitions. On the other hand, Monaco is in sixth place, riding a six-match league winning streak, triumphing over teams such as Lens, Paris Saint-Germain, and Lyon.
Monaco is currently the most in-form team in Ligue 1 and will be keen to extend their success to seven straight wins in front of their home crowd against their archrivals. Not long ago, manager Sébastien Pocognoli faced severe scrutiny, but their surge in form has been remarkable. Their solid backline, combined with the attacking prowess of players like Maghnes Akliouche, Folarin Balogun, and Aleksandr Golovin, adds to their attacking threat.
Marseille’s last-minute defeat at home against Lille, another contender for European spots, was a disappointing result. The team hasn’t found its rhythm since Habib Beye took over (three wins, three draws, and a loss in Ligue 1), making this encounter pivotal; a lackluster performance could allow Lyon and Lille to overtake them in the standings.
MY PREDICTION: AS Monaco 2-0 Marseille. With Mason Greenwood suspended for Marseille, they will be without their standout player this season. I anticipate Monaco’s confidence and form will see them secure a compelling victory.

An Istanbul derby with title implications
Fenerbahçe vs. Besiktas
Turkish Super Lig
Kickoff: Sunday, 1 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. GMT
This Istanbul derby features second-placed Fenerbahçe squaring off against fourth-placed Besiktas, but this game carries a larger significance for Fenerbahçe. Currently, they are four points behind leaders Galatasaray, who have a game in hand, facing Trabzonspor, who are tied with Fenerbahçe on points.
Coach Domenico Tedesco will hope for dropped points for Gala while aiming for a win against their city rivals. Despite a strong season, Fenerbahçe has dropped points recently with a loss and a draw in their last two matches. If they desire their first league title since 2014, they need to avoid any slip-ups. Their best players, Marco Asensio and Talisca, alongside the promising French talent Sidiki Cherif, have been pivotal to their season.
Fenerbahçe has only one loss this season but suffers from nine draws that have cost them. Besiktas cannot compete for the title and are more likely to qualify for the UEFA Conference League, but they would love to thwart Fenerbahçe’s title hopes. With six wins from their last seven matches, their form is promising, despite the recent loss to Galatasaray.
Tammy Abraham‘s departure in January hasn’t halted Besiktas as they rely on Orkun Kökçü, their key player this season with six goals and assists apiece in the Super Lig.
MY PREDICTION: Fenerbahçe 2-1 Besiktas. Despite Besiktas’ strong performance lately, Fenerbahçe has everything to play for and will seize this vital home opportunity to claim victory.

Inter needs to get back on track–and fast
Inter Milan vs. AS Roma
Italian Serie A, Matchday 31
Kickoff: Sunday, 2:45 p.m. ET / 7:45 p.m. GMT
Incredibly, Inter Milan has managed just one win in their last six matches across all competitions. Recent results include a Champions League exit against Bodo/Glimt, an AC Milan defeat in the derby, and draws against Atalanta and Fiorentina. With Milan breathing down their neck, Inter needs to regain their form quickly.
Playing at home is a plus, as they have lost only two and drawn two matches at the San Siro this season. However, they are missing Lautaro Martínez, which has severely impacted their performance. On a positive note, Hakan Calhanoglu’s return strengthens the midfield considerably.
This is a pivotal match for Roma, currently sitting sixth and level on points with Juventus and just three points behind Como in fourth. With the status of Serie A’s Champions League spots uncertain, Roma is desperate for points following a disappointing run. Besides their narrow win against Lecce, they have only managed one victory in their last seven matches in all competitions, leaving manager Gian Piero Gasperini in a tight spot.
MY PREDICTION: Inter Milan 2-1 AS Roma. I believe Inter will find their way back to winning form on Sunday, approaching this encounter with the determination of champions.
German Bundesliga, Matchday 28
Kickoff: Saturday, 12:30 p.m ET / 5:30 p.m. GMT
This weekend features a showdown between second-placed Borussia Dortmund and third-placed Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Currently, there are eight points separating the two teams, so a victory for Stuttgart would narrow that gap to five, keeping their hopes alive for a late-season surge. Meanwhile, Dortmund aims to close the gap on Bayern, with a daunting nine-point differential and having already faced them twice this season.
Aside from a recent loss against Bayern, Dortmund has been on a hot streak with nine wins and only one draw (against Leipzig) in their last ten matches. Their defense ranks as the second-best in the league, just behind Bayern, and they will face a formidable Stuttgart side known for its attacking prowess.
Deniz Undav, at 29, has emerged as one of the league’s standout strikers, already netting 18 goals. With 11 goals and seven assists in his last 15 games, he’s in red-hot form, even scoring for Germany during the international break. It will be intriguing to see how he stacks up against Dortmund’s Sehrou Guirassy, who has also found the net consistently this season.
MY PREDICTION: Stuttgart 2-2 Dortmund. I anticipate a high-scoring contest between two sides with potent attacking talent. While Stuttgart hasn’t secured a Champions League spot just yet, a win would significantly boost their chances, but I predict Dortmund won’t make it easy for them.
