Designing new football boots can start as early as two years before launch, and brands often look to trend forecasters like WGSN to predict which colors, themes, and styles will resonate when the boots hit stores.
There are also clear reasons pink has taken off in football. Today’s players are more comfortable wearing bold, attention-grabbing boots. More importantly, pink offers strong contrast with the green pitch, making it highly visible on TV, in stadiums, and on mobile screens. It stands out in slow motion and under floodlights—simply put, it’s hard to miss.
The irony is that as more companies choose pink, it may become tougher for any single design to feel unique.
