Kieffer Moore expressed his delight in quieting the Sheffield United supporters following his two goals that propelled Wrexham to a stunning victory on Boxing Day.
The Wales international, who departed Bramall Lane last summer after a lackluster season with the Blades, scored twice as Wrexham overcame a 3-1 deficit to secure a 5-3 triumph at Stok Cae Ras.
Moore struggled to win over Sheffield United fans and faced criticism after his mistake led to Sunderland’s decisive goal in the previous season’s Championship play-off final.
“You receive criticism and praise. It’s important to maintain a balanced perspective. You can’t let criticism weigh you down, and you shouldn’t let praise swell your head,” Moore remarked.
“I’m thrilled for myself. [Critics] can say what they will, and I’ll continue to perform on the pitch.”
When asked if he drew motivation from past critiques, he acknowledged, “Yes, absolutely!”
Wrexham conceded two early goals to Patrick Bamford, along with an own goal by Tyler Bindon, within the first 15 minutes of the match.
Callum O’Hare added a third goal for the visitors, but Moore responded with one to cut the deficit, followed by Ryan Longman equalizing. Moore then put Wrexham ahead before a penalty by Josh Windass capped off the remarkable comeback.
This marked Wrexham’s first win in six matches, elevating them to 13th place in the table.
“I think we performed well in the first half, but we could have handled those three moments better, even though Bamford is a top-notch player,” manager Phil Parkinson said.
“At halftime, we told the players they needed to defend our area more effectively against a high-quality side. We believed that if we kept playing as we had been, the chances would come, and we capitalized on them.”
Blades manager Chris Wilder lamented the circumstances surrounding Moore’s exit from the club.
Wilder, who was not in charge at that time, confirmed the transfer was negotiated between his two tenures as manager.

“It wasn’t my decision, but I know what he would be achieving now, and it wouldn’t be with Wrexham,” Wilder stated. “I believe this match may have shifted some perspectives on him and highlighted his significance last season as well as his value to the home team today.
“The timing of the goals we conceded was unfortunate. We need to refine both aspects of our game, and we certainly did not today, but Kieffer showed his true qualities.”
Wilder expressed hope that United could retain Bamford, whose short-term contract is set to end on New Year’s Day.
“I can’t influence that; it’s in the hands of the owners and Pat,” Wilder remarked.
“He’s been exceptional both on and off the pitch, fulfilling the role we needed from him.”
