Bournemouth is on the verge of achieving a rare Premier League double over Brighton.
Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring for the visitors with a penalty at the Amex Stadium after Amine Adli was fouled by Bart Verbruggen as he approached the goal.
Initially, the Cherries forward received a yellow card for simulation, but referee Paul Tierney was later advised to review the play via VAR before making a final ruling.
The yellow card for Adli was overturned, and Bournemouth was awarded the penalty.
Brighton’s players expressed their dissatisfaction to Tierney during half-time, while the home fans were furious that their team was penalized by the retrospective decision.
