Bologna delivered a commendable effort, playing with ten men for more than an hour due to a controversial red card. However, they couldn’t capitalize, resulting in a 0-0 draw against SK Brann.
The Rossoblu sought to sustain their unbeaten streak since September 25, when they faced Aston Villa, aiming to enhance their European performance after a draw with Freiburg and a victory against Steaua Bucharest. Missing from the lineup were injured players Remo Freuler and Ciro Immobile, along with ineligible members Lorenzo De Silvestri, Ibrahim Sulemana, and Benjamin Dominguez. After a week in hospital due to pneumonia, Vincenzo Italiano returned to the touchline. SK Brann of Norway had previously lost to Lille but claimed wins against FC Utrecht and Glasgow Rangers. Several players, including Noah Holm, Felix Horn Myhre, Saevar Atli Magnusson, Jonas Torsvik, Sakarias Opsahl, and Niklas Jensen Wassberg, did not make the trip.

Mathisen narrowly missed a scramble after probing the Bologna defense, while Federico Bernardeschi’s cross from the by-line sparked frantic defending within the six-yard box.
The game’s dynamic shifted dramatically when the referee issued a straight red card to Charalampos Lykogiannis for a tackle on Kornvig. Both players appeared to be unbalanced during the challenge, making the decision feel somewhat severe, but Bologna were left a man down.
The tension among the fans was palpable as Emil Holm executed a critical block on Finne. Meanwhile, Juan Miranda’s penalty claims were dismissed after he appeared to brush past an opponent, leading to a Brann counter-attack that saw Kornvig’s strike deflected wide.

Bernardeschi’s curling effort missed the target, while after the break, Torbjorn Heggem’s header was blocked, although he was off-balance for the follow-up.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Bologna pressed fiercely in the second half. Santiago Castro tested the Brann goalkeeper from a Bernardeschi corner, and Cambiaghi’s shot was blocked by De Roeve.
Chaos ensued during a corner when Lewis Ferguson’s effort hit Castro, who deflected it wide. Shortly after, Cambiaghi squandered a golden opportunity, drilling wide from near the edge of the box following a lay-off from Castro.

Dragsnes also missed a chance for Brann by shooting over, yet it was challenging to discern that Bologna were down a player.
As the clock ticked down, Bologna surged forward, nearly scoring twice when Riccardo Orsolini’s assist to Ferguson prompted a significant save, followed by Jens Odgaard’s rebound that was deflected over the bar.
From the subsequent corner, a header from Jhon Lucumi was tipped around the post, as Kornvig’s diving header nearly found the back of his own net.
