Napoli returned to form with a brace from David Neres and the first goal from Noa Lang, spoiling Raffaele Palladino’s debut as Atalanta’s manager.

The Partenopei entered the international break struggling, having managed only two draws in their last three competitive fixtures, compounded by injuries to key players including Billy Gilmour, Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, Kevin De Bruyne, Alex Meret, and Romelu Lukaku. This situation paved the way for Noa Lang to make his second start of the season. Following a series of defeats, Atalanta parted ways with coach Ivan Juric, prompting Palladino to step in for his debut in his hometown, with Giorgio Scalvini being the only significant absentee.

David Neres ended an 11-month Serie A goal drought with an impressive finish, capitalizing on a clever flick from Rasmus Hojlund to evade Honest Ahanor and slot the ball into the far corner.

Atalanta sought to respond, but both Charles De Ketelaere and Mario Pasalic failed to convert great chances.

However, Napoli soon extended their lead when a poor clearance from Marco Carnesecchi fell to Scott McTominay, who assisted Neres to fire a left-footed shot into the opposite corner.

Just before half-time, Noa Lang also found joy, scoring his first goal for the club with a header from a Giovanni Di Lorenzo cross, beating Raoul Bellanova to the ball.

Palladino made a double substitution at half-time, but it took just 30 seconds for Carnesecchi to make an impressive save from McTominay’s powerful shot.

De Ketelaere came close with a shot that skimmed the far post after a combination with Lookman, and moments later, Atalanta scored with a stunning volley by Gianluca Scamacca from 12 yards, set up by Bellanova’s cross.

After a dismal first half, Atalanta started to find their rhythm, with De Ketelaere coming close when his effort brushed the crossbar, while Milinkovic-Savic had to stretch to save Scamacca’s shot around the post.
