Howe Praises Woltemades…

Manager Eddie Howe commended striker Nick Woltemade for his performance during Newcastle United’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Manchester City at St. James’ Park on Saturday evening.

Woltemade entered the match following a standout performance with Germany but was unable to convert key chances against City.

His missed opportunities could have been detrimental had it not been for the stellar display by Harvey Barnes, who netted two goals, assisting Newcastle in achieving their third consecutive home league win.

Despite the missed chances, Howe expressed satisfaction with the former VfB Stuttgart forward’s contribution.

In an interview with the BBC, he remarked, “Nick played his part today. I was really pleased he got the chance to play.”

“He has been effective in scoring when given opportunities with us, but we need to create more chances for him, and he can improve in certain situations.”

“He had chances today, and while their goalkeeper made a couple of important saves to stop him, it was clear he posed a threat throughout the match.”

This marked Howe’s first league win against Man City, and he aims to build on this positive momentum.

Newcastle has secured only four victories in their first dozen league matches and will require greater consistency to qualify for the Champions League for a second consecutive year.

The Magpies will be back in action in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, taking on Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.
