After a challenging start to the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, where they failed to secure a win in their first eight matches, Borussia Mönchengladbach is experiencing a mini-resurgence under the leadership of new head coach Eugen Polanski. The Foals head into their Matchday 12 clash against RB Leipzig riding the momentum of three consecutive victories.
In a press conference prior to Friday night’s match, Polanski acknowledged the challenge posed by Leipzig.
“Leipzig comes to Mönchengladbach sitting second in the standings. They have been exceptional this season aside from their initial game, so we are preparing to face a team that is truly difficult to overcome,” stated the 39-year-old coach.
“Nevertheless, I’m pleased with our current team performance. We must continue to progress against a formidable opponent like Leipzig, but my goal is to ensure we keep making strides forward, regardless of the competition we face.
“We don’t want to rest on our laurels. Instead, we aim to build on the positives from our last match and strive for continuous improvement. We know our potential, and we’re ready to compete against top teams like this one.”

Gladbach hasn’t celebrated three consecutive victories in the Bundesliga since the conclusion of the 2019/20 season, but under Polanski’s guidance, there is a newfound energy within the squad.
“Right now, the team spirit and sense of unity are incredibly strong, creating a real buzz around the club,” Polanski remarked.
“It’s crucial that we continue along this path. I recognize the work we’ve put in to achieve recent success, and we are committed to further improvement.
“If we maintain this mindset, we will be well-positioned to reach even greater heights.”
