Following another eventful Saturday filled with significant moments, former Swindon, Ipswich, and Luton striker and Final Score analyst Sam Parkin shares his insights on what unfolded in the Championship and across the EFL.
Divergent Paths at the King Power

Sheffield United registered their third consecutive victory, while Leicester City continues to struggle.
Parkin: “It’s been a pivotal week for Sheffield United. The derby win, despite the struggles of Sheffield Wednesday, seems to have really lifted their spirits.
“In the season’s early stages, their creativity was lacking, but now they’ve netted nine goals in three games.
“With their current squad and Chris Wilder’s return, I genuinely expect them to climb the table and steer clear of relegation.
“As for Leicester, despite a spirited second-half performance, I doubt the fans will feel satisfied. The players have been lacking across the board.
“The repeated questioning of attitudes is concerning. Adjusting to life in the Championship can be daunting, and that reality seems to be hitting them hard.
“With two disappointing losses, the manager is likely to face increasing scrutiny.”
‘Unprecedented Performance’

Frank Lampard celebrated a year in charge of Coventry City, propelling the Sky Blues 12 points clear of third-placed Millwall.
Parkin: “I hesitate to be overly optimistic because it’s still early days, but what we’re witnessing is quite unprecedented.

“Today, my key takeaway is the emergence of goalscorers. Ellis Simms, who was previously third choice for the central role, has seized his opportunity amid injuries to others.
“Josh Eccles also found the net today, showing the strength of their squad depth.
“With contributions from various players and a strong defensive record, they’ve demonstrated resilience in turning games around – they are genuine contenders.
“I don’t see any scenario where they collapse significantly enough to fall out of contention for automatic promotion by April.

“We’re witnessing an exceptional team in the Championship and an incredible journey.”
Long-awaited Success for Norwich
Philippe Clement’s squad remains four points off safety in the Championship [Getty Images]
The Canaries achieved their first home victory this season and marked Philippe Clement’s inaugural win as head coach with a triumph over QPR.
Parkin: “This is a fantastic win, especially coming off the back of QPR’s two consecutive victories. The players must have felt really down after conceding in injury time last week.
“Winning at Carrow Road will be a massive relief for the players and will help restore their spirit.
“With Oxford securing a win on Friday, it was crucial for them to find a way to clinch this victory.

“It’s been a long time coming; this is a significant win for them.”
Hellberg’s Promising Start
Middlesbrough’s Morgan Whittaker has been in fine form lately [Getty Images]
Kim Hellberg began his tenure as Middlesbrough manager with a 2-1 victory against a formidable Derby side.
Parkin: “Considering they were up against the league’s form team, having won six out of seven, and that they fell behind, it’s impressive. John Eustace’s teams are typically hard to overcome. Middlesbrough has endured a tough few weeks and were quite patched up.
“Morgan Whittaker’s resurgence is noteworthy. After some scrutiny a month or so ago, he’s now becoming a key player for the team.

“Matt Targett has also been a standout since joining, scoring from defense when they had limited options available.
“With relegated teams from the Premier League struggling, the league is wide open.”
Misery Continues in the South West
Tom Cleverley has faced seven defeats in his last eight matches as Plymouth boss [Getty Images]
Plymouth Argyle and Bristol Rovers remain in relegation contention after dismal performance streaks.
Parkin: “Tom Cleverley has a challenging task on his hands as Plymouth, which has seen a significant turnover in players, struggles to find cohesion. It was an expectation given the overhaul, but now is the time to see some results.

“Their best player, Lorent Tolaj, now potentially being sidelined for three matches raises cause for concern not just for the team but for the manager.
“Darrell Clarke’s situation is slightly different; he has history with the club which may work in his favor despite the pressure of ongoing defeats.
“The reality is that prolonged losing streaks can often signal the end for managers, yet Clarke’s past may grant him a bit more time.”
Walsall Prevail in League Two Showdown
The Saddlers held onto their top position in League Two with a 3-1 victory over Bromley, who presented a tough challenge.
Parkin: “That was a crucial matchup, and Walsall’s win was impressive. Bromley had secured four consecutive victories and featured the league’s top scorer, Michael Cheek.
“Walsall’s ensemble resembles the squad that excelled early last season.

“Daniel Kanu has stepped up impressively, filling the shoes of Nathan Lowe, and they’ve effectively replaced many departed players with equal talent.
“I’m truly impressed by Mat Sadler’s work, especially following the disappointments from last season and their playoff final loss.”
Sam Parkin shared these insights with BBC Sport England’s Steve Jones.
