The Scottish Professional Football League has announced that the 2026-27 season will commence during the weekend of August 1 and 2, 2026.

All four league divisions will kick off on the same weekend, marking the third consecutive season without a winter break for the Premiership.

The final matchday of the Premiership, which will be the 38th round of fixtures, is set for May 15 and 16, 2027, with play-offs expected to conclude by May 23, 2027.

The Championship regular season will wrap up on Friday, April 30, 2027, while Leagues 1 and 2 will finish their campaigns the following day.

The first-round group stage of the Premier Sports Cup is scheduled to run from July 11 to 26, 2026, with the final taking place on December 13, 2026.

A representative from the SPFL stated: “With the new FIFA calendar coming into effect next season and the merging of the September and October international windows, there will be no William Hill Premiership games on the weekends of September 26/27 and October 3/4.”

“Details regarding the 2026/27 KDM Evolution Trophy will be announced in due course.”

The Scottish FA will arrange the schedule for the 2026-27 Scottish Cup.

The current SPFL season is slated to finish with the second leg of the Premiership play-off final on May 24, 2026.
