In a recent interview with Football Insider, former scout Mick Brown revealed that Manchester United views Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson as a prime target. Brown stated,
“Semenyo is the player they have been keeping an eye on.
“United must invest during the January transfer window to enhance the squad, and he was previously on their radar during the summer before committing to a new contract.
“If a chance arises when the transfer window opens, it makes perfect sense as he could fill the gap left by Mbeumo.
“Players like Semenyo and Elliot Anderson are top priorities for Amorim, as both would significantly strengthen crucial positions in the squad.
“They could address areas of concern, inject energy and determination into the team, and assist United in their pursuit of success once again.
“It’s estimated that they would need to spend around £170 million on these two players to transform the team into one capable of competing for trophies at the highest level.
“Personally, I’m skeptical about whether that will happen, but there is an interest in signing both players, and if it’s feasible in January, they may pursue it.
“However, other clubs will also be in the mix, so it won’t be easy, but I believe they’re both essential targets.”
Anderson’s Noteworthy Performances in the Premier League

The young Englishman has consistently performed well in midfield, amassing 36 tackles, 22 blocks, 14 interceptions, and 13 clearances in the Premier League. He also maintains an impressive pass success rate of 82.5% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
Should Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim Pursue Anderson?
Anderson is a proficient tackler with a knack for timing his challenges to regain possession for his team. He effectively clears the ball when necessary and is a reliable passer.
Furthermore, with substantial experience at a high level, he would likely adapt quickly to the demands of Manchester United. Expect him to elevate the quality of Ruben Amorim’s midfield.
At just 23, Anderson still has his prime years ahead, making him an excellent candidate for the Red Devils to consider this January or at the end of the season. Therefore, Amorim would be wise to target such a player next year.
