Crystal Palace Star Issues…

The French club has had its share of encounters with Premier League teams in significant matches, including the FIFA Club World Cup final against Chelsea and the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur.

Frequent clashes with English clubs might make PSG an appealing option for Premier League players considering a move overseas.

Although the summer transfer window of 2026 is still several months away, European clubs are already strategizing on potential signings. PSG is anticipated to pursue Premier League midfielders to strengthen their roster, though the competition for these players is expected to be intense.

TBR Football recently reported that Crystal Palace acknowledges the difficulty in retaining Adam Wharton long-term but is considering a contract extension until 2027.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United are all keeping a close watch on Wharton’s progress, according to the report.

If Wharton chooses to leave, substantial interest from abroad is anticipated, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and PSG reportedly monitoring the talented young playmaker.

According to Mirror Football, Wharton is eager to participate in Champions League football at his next club. Currently, he is Manchester United’s top transfer target, but with Ruben Amorim in charge, the club’s prospects for qualifying for Europe’s elite competition seem limited. On the other hand, PSG is a regular contender in the Champions League under Luis Enrique’s management.

Wharton’s agent, James Featherstone, has confirmed that his client is keen to compete at the highest level. Amid ongoing speculation regarding Wharton, TEAMtalk’s Steve Pearson recently weighed in on where the midfielder should consider moving if he decides to depart after the 2025-26 season.

“If Wharton is the type of player who focuses only on the immediate future, the answer is Liverpool,” Pearson noted. “However, if he looks ahead, which his maturity suggests, then joining Manchester United is clearly the better option.

“Wharton is already a talented player, but at just 21, he has much potential left to unlock. To ensure rapid progression and transition from Premier League talent to world-class superstar, he MUST be playing 90 minutes consistently. That won’t be possible at Anfield with Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister in the lineup.”
