Millwall manager Alex Neil expressed his frustration regarding several decisions made during the team’s 3-1 loss to Hull City.
Femi Azeez received a red card towards the end of the match, but Aidomo Emakhu managed to score a goal for the hosts afterward. However, the early damage had already been inflicted by Kyle Joseph’s two goals, with Oli McBurnie adding a third just four minutes before the final whistle.
Neil mentioned he hadn’t yet reviewed the incident involving Azeez but was particularly upset that Liam Millar avoided a red card for kicking the ball away after his first booking.
“I need to review [the Azeez red card] again,” he told BBC Radio London. “We were trying to push for the next goal when we were reduced to 10 men, which we managed to do.”
“I definitely feel wronged by several decisions made today.”
Despite his grievances, Neil acknowledged that his team’s defensive performance was subpar, contributing to the defeat.
“The game was emotionally charged. We were a bit naive with how many players we committed forward and got caught out in transition for both goals,” he said. “We didn’t defend those goals well, which is unusual for us. They echoed our pre-match discussions, adding to my frustration.”
“I thought the lads gave their all in the second half.”
