Gian Piero Gasperini believes that Roma’s 1-0 win against Como was their ‘best home performance of the season,’ expressing that while he wouldn’t ‘settle for fourth place, he’d be quite pleased with it.’
Following consecutive 1-0 losses in Serie A to Napoli and Cagliari, the Giallorossi faced significant pressure, even though they regained momentum with a 3-0 Europa League win over Celtic on Thursday.

It was a challenging match against Como, coached by Cesc Fabregas, where the only goal came from Wesley Franca, who skillfully shot through Alex Valle’s legs after receiving a lay-off from Matias Soulé.
In light of this, Fabregas highlighted Soulé’s “great talent” in his remarks after the game.

“Soulé undoubtedly had an outstanding performance, but I believe everyone else contributed just as much,” Gasperini stated to Sky Sport Italia.

“Both teams put forth good performances; otherwise, you wouldn’t witness the high intensity and competitive battle for victory, each utilizing their strengths. Como can be dangerous if given space to counterattack.”
“I believe this was our best home game of the season, so I’m thrilled that our fans enjoyed the match.”

Roma has taken the lead in nine Serie A matches this season, winning all of them, while their losses have all been by a score of 1-0.
With only eight goals conceded over 15 matches, Roma boasts the toughest defense in the league.
“We’ve shown solidity since the beginning, and even in our defeats, the matches tend to be very close. This is our hallmark and our strength,” Gasperini remarked.
“In recent weeks, however, we have begun creating many more chances, and tonight we were much more threatening than Como. We could have won by a larger margin.”

“We still need to improve on our finishing and the final pass, but the quality of our play was evident.”

This victory solidifies Roma’s hold on fourth place, bringing them within one point of Napoli, two of AC Milan, and three of newly leading Inter.
Would Gasperini be content to end the season in fourth place?
“I never get comfortable early,” he chuckled, “but I would absolutely be happy with that! More than the ultimate position, I want us to consistently deliver this level of performance. Our fans are incredible; we can feel their energy, especially after a hard-earned victory. That enthusiasm is infectious, and we needed that support at home.”

“This should be our primary goal, and the results will follow.”
Can Roma compete for the Scudetto this season, or are there better-equipped teams for the title?
“I understand that perspective, but this team gives everything they have. Other teams might have stronger players, but do they possess our spirit, work ethic, and commitment?” Gasperini responded.
“Right now, we are a solid team, striving to improve. I noticed in the head-to-head matches, including tonight’s, that no one finds it easy to play against us. We aim to keep this spirit going.”
