Borussia Mönchengladbach…

Tim Kleindienst, the captain of Borussia Mönchengladbach, has faced another setback in his recovery from significant knee surgery. The 30-year-old forward made a couple of brief late substitute appearances in the Bundesliga and one in the cup, but the club announced that he will now be out for the remainder of the year following another surgical procedure this past weekend.

Concerns arose as Kleindienst’s knee showed signs of trouble again, leading to a decision for arthroscopic surgery. Borussia Mönchengladbach indicated that this latest operation was “minimally invasive” and that he is expected to be sidelined for approximately one month. With the Bundesliga entering its winter break, Kleindienst may miss only three to four additional matches.

Due to the nature of his initial injury, Kleindienst had already been on a cautiously slow path to recovery. This new obstacle could push his return to regular play back until mid to late February. BMG’s sporting director, Rouven Schröder, commented on the situation on Monday.

This is disappointing for Tim and for Borussia as a whole, but such setbacks are somewhat expected after a long injury rehabilitation period,” said Schröder. “Tim has demonstrated exemplary commitment during his rehab these past months, and I am confident he will approach this challenge with the same determination.
