According to a report from Kicker, RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner appears to be considering staying put as he approaches the end of his current Bundesliga contract, despite numerous reports suggesting a potential move to Major League Soccer in the USA. The 29-year-old seems unwilling to sacrifice six months’ salary for a transfer in January, and Leipzig may also prefer not to sell the player for a mere €5 million.
While Werner has been brought back into Ole Werner’s squad, he has only participated in three matchday squads this season out of 14 total matches. In Leipzig’s recent 3-1 defeat to Union Berlin, he made his second appearance off the bench this season, coming on as a late substitution in both matchday five and 14, long after the outcome was decided.

If Leipzig faces a series of injuries, there’s a chance that Werner could play a more significant role. Despite not competing in European tournaments this season, Leipzig is still actively involved in the DFB Pokal, aiming to advance past Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals and secure their third league cup title. Currently, they are also positioned for Champions League qualification next season, sitting in second place in the league standings.
