Barcelona Targets Borussia…

Sky Germany has reported that Borussia Dortmund’s fullback Julian Ryerson could be heading to Barcelona in the upcoming January transfer window. The versatile Norwegian defender has been linked with a transfer away from the Bundesliga this summer. Barcelona’s coach Hansi Flick appears to be keen on adding the 28-year-old to his squad in La Liga. As per Sky, preliminary discussions have already commenced between Barcelona and Ryerson’s representatives.

Ryerson has been an important player for die Schwarzgelben, featuring in 20 matches across all competitions this season. However, ahead of Norway’s participation in next summer’s World Cup, he may be contemplating a new opportunity. Ryerson joined Dortmund from Union Berlin nearly three years ago in January 2021 for a fee of €5 million.

Is Julian Ryerson available for transfer from BVB?

With Daniel Svensson and Yan Couto establishing themselves in the wingback roles, Ryerson has found himself more often coming off the bench. His transfer to Dortmund came unexpectedly, with the club acquiring him from the Berlin-based team for a modest fee.

Currently valued at around €20 million, Dortmund could profit significantly from a potential sale. Ryerson has contributed five assists this season, three of which were in the league, suggesting that Sebastian Kehl and the Dortmund management might not view him as indispensable.
