Are Aberdeen’s next six Premiership matches crucial for their season?
The Dons are set to face a struggling Celtic side this Sunday, followed by a match against Dundee United on December 27. They will then visit Hibs on December 30, head to Falkirk on January 3, and face Rangers in back-to-back matches on January 6 and January 11.
Despite a challenging start to the season, Jimmy Thelin’s team currently sits sixth in the Scottish Premiership, tied on points with Hibs, who have played one more game.
According to Ryan Cryle, chief sports writer for Press and Journal, these upcoming matches could be pivotal for their campaign. He shared his thoughts on the BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast:
“This is a key moment in the season. It’s remarkable that, despite their tough start, they’re close to third place and very much in contention. They seem to be building momentum.”
“The upcoming Celtic match presents a significant opportunity. A victory could plunge Celtic into a full-blown crisis.”
“Dundee United is right on Aberdeen’s tail, so it’s vital to keep them at a distance. Hibs are currently level on points, so this period offers a chance to make substantial progress.”
While it may sound cliché, could this run of fixtures determine the fate of their season?
