James Ball of Swindon Town expressed that he and his teammates are eager “to take on each other’s roles” following their recent positional shifts during matches.
The midfielder was positioned as a right-back by manager Ian Holloway in Swindon’s recent 1-0 victory against Crawley Town, having previously played as one of three centre-backs in their match against Bristol Rovers.

“It’s certainly been a change for me, as I’ve never played in that position before. However, if the manager believes in me and this is my opportunity to rejoin the squad after my injury, I’m ready to embrace it,” Ball shared with BBC Radio Wiltshire.
“In training, we analyze our performances individually, and then we apply what we’ve learned on the pitch. Everyone is aware of what others are doing, which helps us understand each other’s roles better. So when changes come up, they aren’t completely unfamiliar to us.”
“Snowy’s [Joe Snowdon] stepped up at right wing-back and has been outstanding. We’ve got Jamie Knight-Lebel in the middle as a centre-back, and I’m playing on the right side of the back three, as well as right-back,” the 30-year-old added.
“We’re all prepared to take on each other’s responsibilities and do our best, and right now, it’s working well for us.”
