Real Madrid Targets…

A recent report by Fichajes indicates that Real Madrid is considering a move for Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes. Sources suggest Los Blancos are looking to secure the services of the Portuguese international next year.

Fernandes’ Strong Performance in English Football

This season, Fernandes has been a standout performer for Manchester United in the midfield, with five goals and seven assists in 18 games across various competitions. The talented 31-year-old has made a significant impact offensively, averaging 2.56 shots per game in the Premier League while maintaining a 23.8% accuracy on target. Additionally, he has shown solid playmaking skills with a pass completion rate of 78.8% in the English top flight (stats via fbref.com).

His contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2027, potentially allowing Real Madrid a bargain opportunity to sign him at the end of this season.

Could Fernandes Be a Good Fit for Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso?

Fernandes possesses powerful long-range shooting ability and is a skilled dribbler, capable of delivering crucial passes in the attacking third. He contributes both goals and assists from the midfield position.

Typically playing as a central midfielder, he can also adapt to an attacking role when required. However, it remains to be seen if he can maintain his current level in La Liga should Los Blancos finalize a deal next year.

Fernandes would undoubtedly enhance the quality and depth of Xabi Alonso’s midfield. He is well-equipped to earn a regular starting position at the Madrid club in the future.

At 31 years old, Fernandes still has many productive years ahead, making him a compelling target for Real Madrid this January or at the end of the current season. However, Alonso will need to give him time to acclimate to the Spanish game to truly harness the talents of the seasoned playmaker.
