After the match, Saliba spoke with CBS Sports and was asked if he considers Timber the best right-back globally.

“Absolutely, by a mile,” Saliba responded. “He’s exceptional. One-on-one, he’s nearly impossible to beat, and he’s just as effective offensively. I hope he continues this form; he’s a top, top player.”

When asked if he believes Timber is truly the best in the world, Saliba replied: “Definitely one or two. It’s a matter of perspective… but definitely one or two.”

While Timber’s performance was commendable on Tuesday night, it was Saliba who received the Player of the Match accolade for his impressive display during the penalty shootout.

Saliba also successfully converted his penalty, and in an interview with Sky Sports, he expressed a desire for the team to improve upon last season’s results in this competition.

“We need to learn from last season,” Saliba mentioned. “We reached the semi-finals, but we lost both matches. This season, we aim to win both and reach the final.”

The Gunners are set to face Chelsea in two matches, the first of which will take place on January 14th at Stamford Bridge, followed by a home match at the Emirates Stadium on February 3rd.
