Matisse Samoises Season

Matisse Samoises Season

Gent’s recent win against Westerlo was marred by the unfortunate news that Matisse Samoise will be sidelined for the entire season. The 24-year-old full-back/midfielder has suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee, which will keep him out of action for several months. This news is a significant setback for both the player and the club, as Samoise had been showing promise this season but will now be facing a nine-month recovery period. He will join Mathias Delorge on the injury list, as Delorge has already been out for three months.

So far this season, Samoise has appeared in 20 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and three assists. This marks a substantial improvement compared to the previous season, where he played 43 matches without netting a goal, although he did manage three assists. Samoise made his debut with Gent in the 2020/2021 season as a teenager and has since accumulated 219 appearances for the club, scoring a total of 16 goals. His most productive season in terms of scoring was in 2023/2024, during which he found the back of the net seven times. Additionally, he recorded his highest assist tally in the 2021/2022 season, providing six assists in 45 games.
