Vipotnik Zeroes In on…

Zan Vipotnik, Swansea City’s leading scorer, insists he remains unfazed by rumors surrounding his future.

With the match-winning goal at Oxford United on Tuesday, Vipotnik reached 10 league goals this season, helping Swansea create a seven-point cushion above the Championship relegation zone.

The Slovenia international is currently second in league scoring only to Southampton’s Adam Armstrong, which has sparked speculation about interest from Premier League clubs.

“It’s a nice feeling to be talked about, as everyone dreams of playing at the highest level, but my focus is entirely on Swansea,” stated the 24-year-old Vipotnik.

“It’s December, and my goal is to score as many times as possible. I hope to net another goal in the next match to help the team win, and then we’ll see what the future holds.”

West Ham has been mentioned as a possible destination for Vipotnik, though Swansea manager Vitor Matos characterized the notion as “just a rumor.”

Matos praised Vipotnik’s performance during the 1-0 victory against Oxford, especially given the injuries to his fellow forwards Adam Idah and Liam Cullen, which made Vipotnik’s contributions even more crucial.

Looking ahead, Swansea will take on West Brom on New Year’s Day (15:00 GMT), with Vipotnik eager to build on his success this season.

After scoring 12 goals in all competitions, compared to just seven in his inaugural season, Vipotnik, who started the current campaign as a backup to Cullen and adjusted to the arrival of Idah from Celtic on September 1, has cemented his place as Swansea’s primary center-forward through his outstanding performances.

“The start of the season was challenging, but I demonstrated my character, and I’m grateful to my teammates and the manager for their support,” Vipotnik remarked.

“I’m very pleased with my current form and aim to maintain it into the new year. I have a goal target in mind, though I prefer not to disclose it; I just aim to score in every match.”
