Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen is optimistic about the upcoming year, despite the team’s 3-0 loss to Preston North End.
In an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield, he stated, “We started the game well; it was an even match until the first goal, and we were in good control.”

He continued, “However, after the first goal, we struggled to regain our rhythm. In the second half, we faced one of the league’s top six teams. They are not only physical but also possess a lot of quality, making it a challenging half for us.”
“I felt we were performing well up until the first goal, moving the ball effectively, but we failed to create enough chances. Breaking through their defensive line proved difficult for us.”
On Liam Cooper’s injury, he noted, “It is a groin issue, and typically, such injuries take longer than just a few days to recover. I believe it will be an extended period for him.”
Lastly, he expressed hope, saying, “I am confident that 2026 will bring brighter days for Sheffield Wednesday, and I trust the administrator will find a positive resolution. I am looking forward to it.”
