After Arsenal’s draw with Liverpool, manager Mikel Arteta shared his thoughts with Sky Sports: “We understand that the differences in such matches are minimal. We experienced two distinct halves today.

“In the first half, we dominated, creating significant opportunities right in front of the goal, but we failed to deliver the decisive pass. The second half, however, was considerably more challenging.

“This match often requires a touch of brilliance, and at Anfield, [Dominik] Szoboszlai provided that, securing the win for them. Unfortunately, we couldn’t replicate that today; sometimes, you simply cannot win or lose.

“There were instances when we had the positional opportunities to really make an impact, yet when we reached those areas, our quality in finding teammates fell short.

“Having come through a demanding run of games during this Christmas period, we find ourselves in a strong position after the past six matches.”

Regarding Gabriel Martinelli’s attempt to push Conor Bradley off the pitch: “It’s likely that Gabi was unaware of what he was doing; I know him well, and he has no malicious intent.

“I’m not sure what happened with Conor, but I hope it’s not serious. Gabi certainly had no intention of harming him.”

  • Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta is still searching for his first win against Arne Slot (D3 L1), with Slot being the only manager to remain unbeaten in his first four encounters with the Spaniard (all in the Premier League between Arsenal and Liverpool).

  • Arsenal failed to score in a Premier League match for the first time since their previous game against Liverpool in August (0-1 at Anfield). Notably, the only two instances they have not found the net in their last 32 league matches have both been against Arne Slot’s team.
