Real Madrid Likely to Miss…

Real Madrid has reached the final of the Spanish Supercup, but they are viewed as the underdogs heading into their match against Barcelona in Jeddah. Barcelona is on a roll, having secured 10 consecutive domestic victories, and this momentum seems to favor them following Los Blancos’ semi-final win over Atletico Madrid.

In a key moment during the Madrid derby, Xabi Alonso substituted both of his central defenders in the 69th minute. Raul Asencio is experiencing some minor discomfort, but he is expected to be fit for the clash against Barcelona. However, Antonio Rudiger’s situation appears less optimistic.

Rudiger struggled noticeably before being substituted last Thursday, and according to Diario AS, Real Madrid officials believe the German defender is unlikely to feature against Barcelona. After battling through knee discomfort for nearly 70 minutes, it is improbable they will risk him with the final just three days away.

This situation may lead to a starting center-back partnership of Dean Huijsen and Asencio on Sunday. While the former did not play in the Atletico match, it is hoped he will be fit for the encounter with Barcelona. Asencio, despite his current discomfort, is also expected to be available. David Alaba is another option, although it would be surprising to see him thrown into the mix after limited appearances over the past year.

Kylian Mbappe’s Participation Looks Promising

On a more positive note for Real Madrid, Alonso has indicated that Kylian Mbappe may have a chance to play against Barcelona. The 27-year-old has also been nursing a knee issue in recent weeks, but he is set to travel to Saudi Arabia within the next 24 hours. After arriving, he will be assessed by the club’s medical staff before a decision is made regarding his inclusion in the matchday squad.
