Nicola Leali delivered an outstanding performance to assist Genoa in securing a 1-1 draw against Milan in Serie A on Thursday night. However, like his teammates, he will be left disappointed at not claiming all three points against the second-placed Rossoneri.
Lorenzo Colombo gave Genoa an unexpected lead midway through the first half, which remained unchallenged until the 92nd minute. That’s when Rafael Leao found the back of the net from a corner to level the score for Milan. In a dramatic twist, Genoa had the opportunity to win the match late in injury time with a penalty kick, but Nicolae Stanciu squandered the chance by firing over the bar.

Best Genoa player: Leali 7 – The Genoa goalkeeper excelled at San Siro, making numerous vital saves to maintain his team’s lead until Leao’s late equalizer. He was particularly impressive when denying Leao in the first half and later when thwarting a volley from Pulisic that could have brought Milan level.
Coach: De Rossi 7 – While Genoa would have been satisfied with a point before kickoff, this draw feels somewhat disappointing given their strong performance. They executed their game plan effectively and showcased great defensive skills, deserving a win had Stanciu converted the last-minute penalty.
