Xavi Hernandez has not yet returned to football management since his dismissal from Barcelona in May 2024, but that could change soon. Recently, he has been considered a strong candidate for the Manchester United position, which opened up earlier this week following Ruben Amorim’s exit.
Xavi is highly regarded by officials at Manchester United, who likely admire the turnaround he achieved at Barcelona. However, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that discussions between the two sides have not yet taken place (via Sport).
“As of now, I am not aware of any negotiations between Xavi and Manchester United. The club has just started the process of selecting their new coach, and we will have to wait and see what develops in the future. As of today, there are no advanced talks or concrete proposals.
“What I can say is that Xavi is eager to coach in the Premier League. He feels ready to step back into management and is willing to embark on a new chapter after his departure from Barcelona and some time away. He is interested in managing in the Premier League eventually, but currently, I am not aware of any negotiations with Manchester United.”

Xavi’s Possible Appointment Makes Sense for Manchester United
It will be intriguing to see who Manchester United ultimately decides to hire, but it would not be shocking if they pursued Xavi. He successfully revitalized Barcelona’s performance shortly after his return in the 2021/2022 season, and he would likely be confident in his ability to do the same at Old Trafford, where he would face similar expectations.
For now, Xavi remains a candidate for the role, and it will soon become clear whether a formal approach will be made.
