Charles De Ketelaere ended his goal drought in Serie A after 118 days, leading Atalanta to a 2-0 victory over Torino and marking their third consecutive win against them this season.

With Gianluca Scamacca and Sead Kolasinac not fully fit, Nikola Krstovic retained his position in the starting lineup following his brace against Bologna. The team was further affected by injuries to Raoul Bellanova and Mitchel Bakker, as well as Ademola Lookman and Odilon Kossounou’s participation in AFCON. Cesare Casadei was suspended due to Torino’s recent defeat against Udinese, while Marcus Pedersen, Zanos Savva, and Perr Schuurs were still recovering from injuries and Adam Masina was on international duty.

The Toro goalkeeper swiftly denied Nicola Zalewski during a counter, although Atalanta’s injury woes escalated as Berat Djimsiti left the pitch due to a sprain.

Upon resuming play, De Ketelaere drove toward the by-line and tried to pull back, but Krstovic and Aboukhlal both slipped in the six-yard box, allowing Paleari to smother the loose ball.

Shortly after, Davide Zappacosta seized a back-heeled flick from Zalewski, but his attempt hit the post from a tight angle.

Ardian Ismajli blocked a Zalewski shot, and Marco Carnesecchi made a fantastic save from Guillermo Maripan’s powerful strike from a corner, while Nikola Vlasic’s follow-up was halted by Honest Ahanor.

Carnesecchi further showcased his skills with a remarkable one-on-one save from Giovanni Simeone after he broke through the offside trap, while Emirhan Ilkhan’s diving header from the resulting corner lacked the power to challenge the goalkeeper.

Lazar Samardzic, who came on as a substitute, created two chances, but one effort sailed over, and the other was blocked at the near post.

As the match approached its conclusion, Vlasic sent a powerful shot just inches wide of the goal from outside the area in the 88th minute.

Torino’s final opportunity crumbled when Cristiano Biraghi’s cross was intercepted by Scamacca, leading Mario Pasalic on a counter-attack from his own half, where he calmly finished past Paleari one-on-one. This goal held special significance for Pasalic, who received heartfelt embraces from his teammates after losing his father shortly before Christmas.

Final Score: Atalanta 2-0 Torino
