Hungarian football expert Bence Bocsak recently shared his insights with BBC Solent Sport regarding Bournemouth’s reported interest in January transfer target Alex Toth, praising the midfielder as the “ultimate professional.” Bocsak compared Toth’s career trajectory to that of his fellow Hungarian, Dominik Szoboszlai.
At just 20 years old, Toth represents the Hungary national team and currently plays for Ferencvaros.

“What stands out about Toth is his versatility; he can operate as a number 8, transition smoothly between box-to-box roles, or take on the responsibilities of a holding midfielder,” Bocsak explained. “While he isn’t necessarily the typical destroyer of play, he excels as a deep-lying playmaker. Toth has also showcased his capabilities higher up the pitch as a number 10. Importantly, he has experience across all these positions both at Ferencvaros and with the Hungarian national team against top-tier opponents such as Portugal.”
“Despite being young, he brings significant experience by having played regular matches in the Europa League, which is essential given the leap from the Hungarian league to the Premier League,” he continued.
“Everyone who has worked with him speaks highly of his character. Unlike Szoboszlai, who garnered attention as a star at 16, Toth has taken a more patient approach. He has dedicated himself fully, demonstrating professionalism throughout his career until he finally seized his opportunity due to his commendable character.”
“While at Ferencvaros, Toth has learned from Naby Keita and received mentorship from manager Robbie Keane, which has been vital for his growth. He’s now worked with his fourth manager, all of whom have supported him since he was just 18.”
“Toth is known for his intensity and ability to press effectively, and I think he could fit in well in a role as a number 10 in Bournemouth’s current setup. Given Andoni Iraola’s emphasis on high pressing and efficiency in the attacking third after losing possession, Toth’s skills would be advantageous. He might be suitable to step in for Justin Kluivert,” Bocsak concluded.
