FC Augsburg has officially announced the signing of Rodrigo Ribeiro on loan from Sporting CP. The six-month loan deal includes a €5m option to buy. At just 20 years old, Ribeiro has managed only one goal in the Portuguese Primeira Liga while on loan at AVS Futebol SAD during the 2024/25 season.
While he has yet to score for his parent club’s first team, Ribeiro did find the net 16 times with the Sporting B team. This marks his third loan spell, and his previous stint at Nottingham Forest in the 2023/24 Premier League season offered limited playing time.

Ribeiro is Augsburg’s third addition during the ongoing January transfer window. The Fuggerstädter have also re-signed former striker Michael Gregoritsch and added defensive specialist Yannik Keitel.
Statements from Augsburg on Ribeiro’s Signing
“Rodrigo’s journey at just 20 years of age is remarkable,” commented FCA sporting director Benni Weber in a statement from the club. “He adds technical skill, dynamism, and a goal-scoring threat to our attack, enhancing our options and increasing competition in this area, which is exactly what we need.”
“I was immediately convinced by the vision laid out for me in Augsburg,” Ribeiro stated. “I’m joining an ambitious club that believes in young talents and provides them the opportunity to showcase their abilities.”
