Fan Favorite Defender…

Premier League Clubs Eye Liverpool Star

After Milos Kerkez’s arrival during the summer, Kostas Tsimikas has been loaned to AS Roma for the current season.

With Andrew Robertson’s contract nearing its end, many anticipated that Tsimikas would return to Liverpool at the season’s close to provide backup to Kerkez if Robertson opted to leave Anfield.

However, it now appears that the Greek defender could return to the Premier League sooner than expected. The Athletic reports that Nottingham Forest is interested in bringing the 29-year-old to the City Ground this winter.

Tsimikas has faced limited playing time in Italy and would be a valuable addition to Sean Dyche’s squad as they strive for Premier League survival.

Could Liverpool Bid Farewell to Their Fan Favorite?

Since arriving on Merseyside in 2020, Tsimikas has become a beloved figure among Liverpool supporters.

Acknowledged as ‘the Greek Scouser,’ this charismatic left-back etched his name in Liverpool folklore by scoring the decisive penalty in the shootout against Chelsea in the 2022 FA Cup final.

While The Athletic’s report doesn’t clarify if Forest intends to secure Tsimikas on a permanent basis or to assume Roma’s current loan agreement, a permanent departure would not be surprising.

With optimism surrounding vice-captain Robertson signing a new contract at Anfield, Tsimikas’ path to regular playing time appears increasingly limited.

Prior to joining the Reds, Tsimikas played for Olympiacos, which is also owned by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. A transfer to Forest could potentially pave the way for a return to his former club in the future.

Fans would undoubtedly be disappointed to see Tsimikas leave but will wish the Anfield hero the best as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.
