Stead Brings Terriers Back

Former Terriers striker Jon Stead has rejoined the club as a first team coach under Liam Manning’s guidance.

Stead, who progressed through the ranks at his hometown club, netted 14 league goals in 77 matches over two stints with Huddersfield and represented England at the Under-21 level.

Throughout his extensive career, which included 700 appearances across 12 clubs, Stead played for teams such as Blackburn, Sunderland, Ipswich, Sheffield United, Bristol City, and Notts County before hanging up his boots in 2021 after a tenure with Harrogate.

The 42-year-old began his coaching journey in the United States with Hartford Athletic and Tampa Bay Rowdies, before joining Neill Collins’ coaching staff at Barnsley in 2023, and subsequently transitioning with Darrell Clarke to Bristol Rovers last summer.

Manning expressed to the club website: “I’m thrilled to have Jon on board to complete our coaching staff and look forward to collaborating closely with him. He brings a fascinating coaching background, and after extensive discussions about this opportunity, I can see his genuine passion for making a positive impact at his hometown club once again.”
