Liverpool and Rennes are currently engaged in advanced negotiations for a pre-agreement that would see Jérémy Jacquet (20) join the Reds next summer, as reported by Ouest-France. Earlier updates suggested that Liverpool has taken the lead over Chelsea in the pursuit of the promising France U21 international defender. However, with the winter transfer window closing soon, Rennes is likely to retain Jacquet for the remainder of the season as they seek a replacement.
Ouest-France reports that Rennes is aiming for a club-record sale for Jacquet, potentially yielding over €65 million. If Liverpool and Rennes agree on an immediate transfer, it may also involve Jacquet being loaned back to Rennes for the rest of the season.
Jacquet is said to be excited about Liverpool’s sporting vision, although Chelsea is still in the mix, hoping to secure his signature.
