We reached out to you for your thoughts on what needs to take place before the transfer window closes at 19:00 GMT on Monday.

Here are some of your insights:

Rob: Given the PSR restrictions, I doubt we’ll make any more signings in January. My main hope is that Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba remains with us. He adds pace to our bench, especially after Donyell Malen’s departure. Even though Unai Emery aims to loan him out for regular play, he made a significant impact as a substitute against Salzburg. He could be crucial for us when the pressure mounts.

Jimmy: Our needs hinge on two unknown factors: the recovery timeline of John McGinn—expected back around early to mid-March—and whether Alysson will be integrated into the first team. If McGinn returns and Alysson is involved, we might manage without any new players. However, if either one falters, we could use a winger or an attacking midfielder.

Chris: With our midfielders thin on the ground, acquiring another one would be wise. I was impressed by Angel Gomes at Marseille a while back, but he appears to have slipped off the radar, recently making a loan move to Wolves. A few months under Unai could have revived his form. Additionally, a right-back would be beneficial since it’s unclear if Andres Garcia is dealing with a long-term injury or simply not trusted. However, PSR constraints make it very challenging to bring in the quality we need.

Chay: I believe Villa should maintain the current squad as it’s strong enough to compete—provided we avoid more injuries. If that’s not the case, exploring loan options for midfield or right-back would be prudent to bolster our cover.

Cassie: Depending on Villa’s budget, I’d like to see Harry Wilson join us for his dual capability in both defense and attack, which is crucial for our midfield. I would also target Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool, though his salary could be a hurdle. Adding both could solidify our chances for a top-two finish—and if Arsenal falter… we could end up on top!

Adam: We need one or two robust defensive midfielders—ideally with a solid injury history! Also, securing a new contract for Emery would help ward off interest from Real Madrid or Manchester United.
