After Hearts faced their third loss of the season, falling 1-0 to St Mirren on Tuesday night, we reached out for your opinions.
Here’s a glimpse of your responses:
Calum: It’s concerning that we struggle every time we play in Renfrewshire. Some of Derek McInnes’ choices are puzzling—like starting Pierre Landry Kabore on the right when he’s more of a poacher/target man, and substituting our top creative player for a center-half. We can’t afford to make adjustments when leading the league. The derby now becomes a must-win.

David: Having three red cards in five matches is unacceptable. Even before going down to ten men, we seemed off the pace and lacked ideas, moving the ball too slowly. If it weren’t for Alexander Schwolow, we could have lost by an even wider margin. We have two crucial games ahead—let’s move forward!
Paul: The fact that three players have been sent off in the last five games shows the mounting pressure and a growing lack of discipline within the team. It increasingly appears that this side from Tynecastle is on a path of self-sabotage. Every match requires laser focus, with sustainability and consistency vital for winning any domestic league title.
Chris: What a waste of a trip to Paisley—an abysmal performance. We were outplayed and outmatched, with St Mirren showing more hunger; we got what we deserved—nothing.
Alan: Once again, McInnes has produced a tactical disaster. His team selections and formations against St Mirren have consistently been poor. With our three best players missing for this crucial derby, it’s disheartening. Tuesday night was another critical match that ended in disappointment, which has happened far too often over the years. We have a tendency to undermine ourselves, and it appears we might do so again. Victories against Hibs and Rangers are now essential but seem unlikely after such a dismal showing. They insist on making things difficult for themselves.

Sjm: It’s the same old story with McInnes. His team selections and tactics are baffling; why take off Alexandros Kyziridis while leaving Kabore on the pitch? Our midfield looked sluggish, and without a recognized right-back, Michael Steinwender and Stuart Findlay are proving to be liabilities. I feel sorry for Craig Halkett, who’s been let down by Findlay. At no point did we look capable of defeating the second-worst team in the league, who’ve only won once in their last eight games. We won’t achieve anything under McInnes.
